Car Reviews Bmw M1

The first prototype of BMW was in 1977 with the M1 entering production in 1978. An interesting fact is that BMW M1 is claimed to be a supercar for driving with its proof of fine engineering. In many ways this car was remarkable as the gorgeous 328 of the 1930s. M stood for Motorsport GmbH ( BMW`s separate competition division) and 1 for being the first one. This was the main idea for producing such a car. The end of the production was the year 1980 and during that time a 457 racing and road-going M1 was one of the rarest and most desirable of the modern BMW cars with maximum speed of 261 km/h (162 mph). People liked the car in a way that nobody was able to predict. 457 all LHD cars were produced and they found their owners. It is claimed that this car had many international influences and it is so. It was created in 1972 by the Frenchman Paul Bracq, after that the final body shape was created by Giorgio Giugiaro`s Ital Design in Turin (Italy)and there was some contribution to the engineering made by Lamborghini. With so many influences the car was still a BMW.It was a great pleasure to drive it because of the fact that the driving position in the M1 was extremely good with adjustable steering wheel and well-placed pedals in the foot wells which stood narrow. The engine was 3453cc straight-six engine which used the same cast-iron cylinder block as BMW`s 635CSi coupe. The new thing was that the engine was with a forged-alloy crankshaft and slightly longer connecting rods. The cylinder head was a light-alloy casting with two chain-driven overhead cams that operated four valves per cylinder. The construction was tubular steel space-frame with glass-fibre body and the body style was two-seater mid-engined sports. All BMW M1 were left-hand drive. The suspension was of coil springs, wishbones, and Bilstein gas-pressure telescopic dampers front and rear. Two tanks were filled via an orifice behind each of the doors. The air vents kept the 3.5-liter engine cool. The transmission was combined ZF five-speed gearbox and limited slip differential. The brakes were servo-assisted ventilated discs all round. The heating and ventilation systems work and the mirrors-big door mirrors were electrically adjusted. The interior was black but there were fixtures and fittings that were at a very high standard. The retractable headlamps were backed up by driving lamps. The rear lamp clusters were the same of the 6-series coupe and 7-series saloon models.
